Minecraft Rules & Policies
- Ahoy, brave adventurers and fellow Vikings! Welcome to the official rules page for our Minecraft servers, where the lands of Survival, Creative, and Prison await you. At Rogue Vikings, we believe in fostering a thriving, enjoyable community without the heavy hand of over-moderation. We're a United States-based crew with a passion for fair gameplay and fun, and while we don't breathe down your neck with strict oversight, rest assured—those who attempt to disrupt our lands with abusive behavior will face swift justice from our Viking warriors!
- Our approach is simple: Play fair, be respectful, and contribute to the community spirit. Whether you're mining in the depths of our SMP, building grand Viking longhouses in Creative, or forging alliances in our Prison server, you'll find that we encourage freedom and creativity while standing firm against those who break the rules in harmful ways.
- We're also on the hunt for new members to join our ranks! If you're looking to be a part of our moderation team, you’ll be glad to know we offer real-world rewards, including in-game perks and paid benefits for dedicated staff. So, grab your sword and shield, follow our laws, and let’s continue building a community where every Viking—new or seasoned—can enjoy their adventure without fear of rule-breaking marauders!
Minecraft SMP Rules
1. Respect the Land, Respect Each Other
In the vast wilderness of the Survival SMP, preserving the environment and others’ creations is essential. No one likes to find their hard work ruined or stolen.
- Do not grief or destroy other players' builds or landscapes.
- Avoid stealing from chests, farms, or animals that belong to others.
- Example: Imagine you've spent days building your dream Viking longhouse. You’ve gathered wood, stone, and crafted intricate details. Now, picture coming back and finding someone has ransacked your chests, stolen your armor, and even let your animals loose. It feels like a raid on your village, but not the fun kind. This is why it's important to leave other players' builds, chests, and livestock untouched—so everyone can enjoy what they've worked hard for.
1.1 Respect Our Staff Team
We hold our staff to high standards, but they are human too, and mistakes can happen. While we value their judgment, we don't always believe that the staff member is 100% right. If you feel there’s an issue, respectfully report it.
- Treat all staff with respect, regardless of their role.
- If you disagree with a staff decision, handle it calmly by submitting a report or speaking to another staff member.
- Example: Let’s say a staff member warns you for breaking a rule, but you believe it’s a misunderstanding. Maybe you were farming peacefully when another player started a fight, and now you’ve been accused of griefing. Instead of firing off angry messages in chat, remain calm, explain your side of the story, and, if needed, submit a detailed report. The staff will review the situation with an open mind—after all, even in Viking lore, there are two sides to every battle.
1.3 No Cheating or Hacking
The honor of a Viking is not earned through unfair advantage. Any form of cheating or exploiting ruins the balance of the game.
- Do not use hacks, mods, or exploits to gain an unfair advantage.
- Mods that allow x-ray vision, automatic mining, or flight are strictly prohibited.
- Example: Imagine you’re exploring the wild, armed only with your trusty pickaxe, and you spot another player effortlessly mining every diamond vein in sight using an x-ray hack. It’s disheartening and takes away from the thrill of discovering treasure on your own. Just like in Viking raids, the spoils of battle should be hard-earned, not plundered through unfair means.
1.4 Preserve the Environment
A true Viking leaves the land as they found it—or better. Don’t leave behind a trail of destruction, such as floating trees or ravaged landscapes.
- Always fully cut down trees and replant saplings when possible.
- Avoid leaving half-destroyed landscapes or incomplete projects.
- Example: Picture a lush forest filled with towering trees. You’ve chopped one down for materials, but instead of replanting or cutting the whole tree, you leave the top floating in the air. Now imagine how that ruins the beauty of the server for the next adventurer. They wander through, expecting natural forests, only to find a half-destroyed landscape. This kind of behavior disrupts the natural beauty of the world, so always finish what you started and replant saplings to keep the land thriving.
1.5 Inappropriate Content
Minecraft is a game for everyone, and the server should remain a welcoming and respectful environment. Avoid inappropriate language, builds, or content.
- Do not use offensive language, symbols, or signs in chat or builds.
- Any forms of harassment, hate speech, or offensive material will be removed.
- Example: Imagine building a massive Viking fortress, only to walk by another player’s base and see offensive signs, inappropriate symbols, or hurtful messages. Not only does this kill the fun atmosphere, but it also creates a toxic environment for others. Instead, make sure your builds and messages reflect the inclusive and adventurous spirit of our community. If you wouldn’t see it in a Viking mead hall, it doesn’t belong here either.
Minecraft Creative Rules
2. Build Responsibly
Creative mode is a playground for the imagination, but even here, excessive builds or redstone contraptions can lag the server and impact other players’ experience.
- Do not spam large builds or create excessive redstone contraptions that cause lag.
- Be mindful of how much space you take up with your builds.
- Example: Picture building an enormous Viking city, complete with farms, houses, and longships. Then, right next door, another player sets up an endless redstone clock that constantly ticks away, slowing the entire server down. Everyone's builds start to lag, and suddenly, all that effort feels wasted. To avoid this, keep redstone contraptions to a reasonable size and always test them for efficiency before going overboard.
2.1 No Griefing or Modifying Others' Creations
Each player’s creativity is sacred in the creative world. Don’t alter or destroy what someone else has built without their permission.
- Do not destroy or change another player’s build without permission.
- Always ask before making any modifications to ongoing projects.
- Example: Imagine you’ve spent days crafting a detailed Viking longship, only to log back in and find someone has painted it pink and added disco lights. While creative expression is encouraged, respect is key. If you want to contribute to another player’s project, ask them first. Vikings didn’t just storm into another’s camp and redecorate without asking—neither should you.
2.3 Keep Builds Appropriate
Minecraft is a game for all ages, so make sure your creations are suitable for everyone on the server. Vulgar or offensive structures are not allowed.
- Do not create inappropriate or offensive structures.
- All builds should be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages.
- Example: You’re working on an epic Viking fortress, complete with a massive mead hall and defensive walls. Then, you pass by a giant offensive symbol someone else has constructed. It breaks the immersion and makes the game uncomfortable for others. Keep the atmosphere friendly and fun by making sure your builds are something the entire server can enjoy without worry.
2.4 Collaborative Builds Are Encouraged
Working together can lead to some epic community builds. However, always ensure you’re welcome before jumping into a group project.
- Join collaborative builds with permission from other players involved.
- Respect the vision and guidelines of group projects.
- Example: There’s a Viking village being constructed by a group of players. You think it would be great to add your own house or fort, but before you start building, make sure the leaders of the village approve. Viking clans worked together as a team, and so should you in collaborative builds.
2.5 Organize Large Builds
Planning a large build? Announce it in chat and ensure that it doesn’t conflict with other players’ projects.
- Let others know about massive builds to avoid space conflicts.
- Keep your large builds spaced away from others to maintain server balance.
- Example: You’re excited to build a massive Viking kingdom, complete with a castle, walls, and a port. Before you start, make sure there’s enough room around your project so other players can continue their own builds without being overshadowed or blocked. Just like in the days of old, make sure your kingdom has enough land to flourish without stepping on others’ territories.
Minecraft Prison Rules
3. No Auto-Mining or Botting
Prison servers are all about the grind, and shortcuts like auto-mining or botting go against the spirit of the game.
- Avoid using any form of auto-mining or automated bots.
- All resource gathering should be done manually.
- Example: You’re working your way through the ranks, mining away and slowly gathering precious resources. But nearby, another player is standing still with an auto-clicker, breaking blocks faster than anyone else can. Not only is it unfair, but it takes away the satisfaction of progressing through hard work. Much like a Viking earning their status through trials, you must put in the effort to succeed in the prison ranks.
3.1 Respect the Guards and Wardens
Following the rules set by in-game guards and wardens is essential. While planning a prison break is part of the game, harassing staff is not.
- Follow the directions given by guards and wardens.
- Don’t abuse or harass staff members, even when roleplaying escapes.
- Example: You’ve planned an epic escape and are sneaking past guards when you’re caught and returned to your cell. Instead of flooding the chat with angry messages or trying to make life difficult for the guards, take it in stride and try again later. Respect the roles everyone plays in the game—after all, even in Viking times, a successful raid took patience and skill, not complaints.
3.2 No Boosting or Exploiting Game Mechanics
Earning your way through the prison ranks is key. Using exploits or boosting other players to gain resources unfairly ruins the challenge.
- Do not use game exploits or bugs to gain resources.
- Avoid boosting or helping others skip ranks unfairly.
- Example: You’ve made it to the highest prison rank through hard work, but then you notice someone else who’s suddenly at your level because they exploited a bug. It cheapens the experience for everyone who put in the effort to rank up legitimately. Just like climbing the Viking social ladder, success in prison should be earned, not cheated.
3.3 Keep PvP Civil
PvP is part of the prison experience, but it should remain fair. Avoid spawn-camping or repeatedly killing weaker or newer players.
- Do not target or repeatedly kill under-equipped or new players.
- Keep PvP within designated zones and respect boundaries.
- Example: You’re well-armed and itching for a fight, so you head into the PvP zone for a challenge. However, instead of facing a worthy opponent, you camp near the spawn and repeatedly kill a new player who’s still learning the ropes. This isn’t the Viking way—PvP should be fair and fun, not frustrating for those who haven’t had time to gather resources yet.
3.4 Trading and Shops
Setting up a thriving trade network is part of prison life, but scamming or misleading players is not.
- Be honest and fair in trades with other players.
- Set up shops that reflect what you're offering accurately.
- Example: You’ve set up shop, advertising enchanted Viking armor for sale. A fellow player makes the trade, but instead of the promised enchanted gear, you hand them regular iron armor. This not only breaks trust but damages the trading economy. Honor your agreements and be transparent in your deals—just as Vikings were known for fair trading (most of the time).
Minecraft Skyblocks Rules
4. Respect Island Boundaries
Skyblocks is all about creating your own island paradise, but you should respect the boundaries and creations of other players' islands. No one likes an uninvited visitor wrecking their hard work.
- Do not grief or damage other players' islands.
- Avoid trespassing or interfering with another player’s island without permission.
- Example: Imagine you've spent hours constructing your floating Viking outpost. You’ve expanded, planted crops, and built towering defenses. Then, out of nowhere, another player comes onto your island and tramples your crops or removes key blocks. It takes away from the personal accomplishment of Skyblocks, which is why you should always respect the sanctity of other players’ islands.
4.1 No AFK Farming or Auto-Clicking
WARNING
This rule will be getting removed and modified!
Skyblocks is all about grinding and resource management, but using auto-clickers or AFK farms to gain resources without putting in the effort is not allowed.
- Do not use auto-clickers, macros, or any form of AFK farming.
- All resource gathering should require active participation.
- Example: You’ve set up a cobblestone generator and are mining blocks by hand when you notice someone else is using an auto-clicker, making it look like they’re working, but they’re actually AFK. This undermines the hard work and grind of Skyblocks. The satisfaction comes from actively building and growing, not from bots doing it for you.
4.2 Cooperate in Teams Respectfully
Many players like to collaborate and form teams, but respect and cooperation are key to keeping Skyblocks fun for everyone involved.
- Respect your teammates and work together to accomplish goals.
- Avoid stealing from teammates or making decisions without group consent.
- Example: You’ve teamed up with other players to build a massive Viking sky fortress. Suddenly, one of your teammates takes all the diamonds from your shared chest and uses them for personal armor without consulting the team. This can cause frustration and break the group dynamic. Always communicate and share resources fairly, just like Viking clans would.
4.3 No Island Boosting or Resource Exploits
Boosting other players’ islands by giving them excessive resources or exploiting glitches for infinite resources goes against the fair play principles of Skyblocks.
- Avoid boosting islands by providing excessive resources.
- Do not use glitches or exploits to duplicate resources.
- Example: A fellow Viking approaches you and offers stacks of diamond blocks they mysteriously acquired in an instant. While it may seem tempting, this kind of boosting breaks the balance of Skyblocks. Islands should grow through steady work and resource management, not through exploiting bugs or receiving unrealistic boosts from others.
4.4 Keep PvP Civil
PvP can be a part of Skyblocks when enabled, but it should always be fair and not used to harass or exploit other players.
- Only engage in PvP when both parties consent to it.
- Avoid repeatedly attacking or harassing other players.
- Example: You’re busy expanding your island when another player sneaks up, kills you, and steals your items. Then they keep coming back, camping near your spawn point. This behavior takes away the fun and makes Skyblocks more frustrating than enjoyable. PvP should be consensual and respectful, in true Viking fashion.
4.5 No Scamming in Trades
Trading is an essential part of Skyblocks, but players should engage in fair and honest trades. Scamming undermines the trust in the community.
- Ensure all trades are honest and reflect what was agreed upon.
- Do not intentionally mislead players in trade deals.
- Example: You agree to trade your Viking-built diamond pickaxe for a set of enchanted tools. After the trade, you realize you were given regular tools without any enchantments. This kind of scamming hurts trust in the trading community. Make sure all trades are honest, just as Viking traders would have done.
4.6 No Inappropriate Builds or Content
Skyblocks should be an inclusive, family-friendly space. Avoid building inappropriate structures or using offensive language in chat.
- Do not create inappropriate structures or offensive content.
- Keep all builds and messages clean and appropriate for all ages.
- Example: You’ve crafted an impressive Viking hall in the sky, but nearby you see a player building something offensive or vulgar. This can ruin the fun, immersive atmosphere for others. Keep your builds appropriate so everyone can enjoy the world, just as they would in a Viking mead hall.
